Stakeholder Interviews
We started by interviewing our stakeholders which were composed of their founder, marketing strategist, and technical lead. We needed to get into our client's shoes and understand how the business ran and what their goals are in their respective roles. Summary of Client's Goals:
✦ Give the website a design makeover
✦ Give the users more control over the products they see
✦ Make it easier for visitors to find products they're interested in
✦ Make it easier for their team to manage the website (CMS)
✦ Make the website more responsive to different viewports
Heuristic Evaluation
As a designer and a UX practitioner, I also gave myself the time to investigate and formulate my own opinions for the website. I know I know... but Von, you're not the user! Fair, but I think someone who's been working on e-commerce websites still holds valid reasons for best practices. Not to mention how much I enjoy shopping online too.I needed to brain-dump ideas and have references to them later on.
✦ Clarity on the scope of our revamp
✦ Organise ideas that are easy to understand
So I mapped out a sitemap/journey flow to best showcase where and when these improvements will be implemented. Afterward, I laid out sample websites from me and the client's and then highlighted sections that represented these solutions.
Improvement Summary:
✦ Make the website more accessible
✦ Make the website more usable-Make the website more technically advanced (easier to integrate, have AI features, have better product suggestions, etc).
✦ Modernise the website’s design
✦ Improve responsiveness
Ideation
We tried several different layouts, each with its own unique style and functionality. Some of the layouts were more traditional, with a simple and straightforward placement of elements. Others were more modern and experimental, featuring bold and unconventional designs. After testing and refining each layout, we presented our findings to the client. We discussed the pros and cons of each design, and ultimately settled on a layout that was both user-friendly and visually stunning. This layout met all of the client's requirements and exceeded their expectations.
Designing Flows
Designing flows of experience for an eCommerce shop is critical in creating a user-friendly and intuitive interface that encourages customers to make purchases. A successful eCommerce experience relies on a seamless and efficient flow that guides customers through every step of their journey, from browsing products to checking out.We mapped out the entire user flow, considering every possible interaction and scenario. This helps us to identify potential pain points and areas where we can streamline the process.
